Service to Mankind

Welcome to Aberdeen Sertoma!!  SERTOMA.  A curious word until three very important words come together:  SERvice TO MAnkind.  The primary service project for Sertoma is assisting the more than 50 million people with speech, hearing and language disorders.  Sertoma also sponsors community projects to promote freedom and democracy, to assist youth and to benefit a variety of other local community needs.

Every year Sertoma clubs raise more than $20 million for local community service projects, as well as grants and scholarships.  Sertoma clubs return those funds to their respective communities and they have lots of fun doing it while building life long friendships.

The Aberdeen Sertoma Club, Inc., was founded in 1958 with 42 members and today we have about 50 members, with three of our original founding members as active participants.

Assisting the Aberdeen Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department with the development of Storybook Land and the Land of Oz has continued to be a major focus of the club for 30+ years.  We have also sponsored many local worthwhile projects during the past 7 decades, including the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Boys and Girls Club, YMCA, hearing aids, hearing dogs, Freedom Week, Christmas hospital gifts, NSU workday, and amplification systems for local schools.
