Welcome to Aberdeen Sertoma!! SERTOMA. A curious word until three very important words come together. SERvice TO MAnkind. The primary service project for Sertoma is assisting the more than 50 million people with speech, hearing and language disorders. Sertoma also sponsors community projects to promote freedom and democracy, to assist youth and to benefit a variety of other local community needs.
Every year Sertoma clubs raise more than $20 million for local community service projects, as well as grants and scholarships. Sertoma clubs return those funds to their respective communities and they have lots of fun doing it while building life long friendships.
The Aberdeen Sertoma Club, Inc., was founded in 1958 with 35 members and today we have 30 members, with one of our original founding members as an active participant.
Assisting the Aberdeen Parks and Recreation and Forestry Department with the development of Storybook Land and the Land of Oz has continued to be a major focus of the club for 30+ years. We have also sponsored many local worthwhile projects during the past 6 decades, including the Camp Sertoma, Camp UBU, Sertoma Annual Fund, Table of Plenty, Aberdeen Community Threatre Looping, Salvation Army bell ringing, Safe Harbor, United Way, Boys and Girls Club, National Heritage, Junior Achievement, Aberdeen Christian School, Aberdeen Roncalli School, Aberdeen Central School, Christmas Eve at the Hospitals and Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
